Project Love: Bringing Real Hope to Real Women

Just this past week, Project Love received two urgent applications for support—from pregnant mothers weighed down by pregnancy-related complications, work challenges, overdue bills, and an unforgiving economy.

These women are courageous—but they’re burned out, overwhelmed, and teetering on the brink of crisis. Left with few options, abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood often present abortion as the only path forward.

Project Love offers something radically different: hope, compassion, and practical support that empowers women to choose life.

A Helping Hand When It’s Needed Most

Project Love, the emergency grant program of Illinois Right to Life, exists precisely for these life-or-death moments. Since its founding in 1996 by the late Mary Bliss, Project Love has awarded over half a million dollars in grants to help women in crisis pregnancy situations.

Each eligible woman may receive a one‑time grant—up to $1,000—directly paid to legitimate creditors like landlords or utility companies. Grants are provided only after a rigorous application and counseling process, and only when the need is urgent and other options have been exhausted.

This Week’s Cases: More Than Just Bills

Both families this week were working to make ends meet before pregnancy-related health struggles diminished their ability to work full-time. The result: mounting debt and eviction loomed on the horizon.

We stepped in to:

  • Cover one to two months of rent, giving mothers time and breathing room

  • Help them slow down, recover, and prioritize keeping their babies safe

  • Prevent them from falling behind on other expenses

Why This Matters

Project Love embodies the heartbeat of Illinois Right to Life’s mission: when women receive emotional, spiritual, and financial support in their crisis, they are empowered to embrace life.

Project Love's impact is clear in the stories of past recipients:

“Thank you for the check to help cover my rent. It came at a much-needed time...My baby is due in 2 months and now I can really get ready for her arrival.”
—Brittney

“Thank you for helping me pay my car for this month…Your generosity has been a lifesaver. As a mother of two kids, I am struggling to pay all my bills…”
—Tasha

These are lives changed not by politics, but by compassion in action.

We Can’t Do It Without You

Project Love exists because of your generosity. Your belief in the dignity of every life—no matter how small—makes miracles happen.

Would you prayerfully consider giving to Illinois Right to Life today? Your gift:

  • Helps more women in crisis choose life

  • Sustains vital programs like Project Love

  • Ensures intentional, life-affirming support remains available when needed most

  1. A local pregnancy help center screens and counsels the applicant.

  2. The center submits the grant application to Project Love on her behalf.

  3. If approved, funds are sent directly to creditors, never to the mother.

  4. The support gives her the time, space, and peace of mind to move forward confidently.

You are the lifeline for these moms—in the moment they need it most.

Thank you for standing firm in support of Life.
