The pro-life movement is often accused of being disinterested in caring for the woman and child after the baby is born. For nearly 30 years, Project Love has dispelled this myth by providing emergency grants to pregnant women and new moms with urgent financial needs.
At Illinois Right to Life, Project Love is our tithe. Each year, we aim to give 10 percent of our organization’s overall revenue in emergency grants to women in need. By partnering with Illinois pregnancy resource centers to provide these funds, we’re not just ensuring that women have their financial needs met - we’re promoting a connection with a local care provider that is equipped to support her in all other areas of her motherhood journey.
DISPELLING THE MYTH
who qualifies?
Project Love grants are provided to pregnant women and new moms with an urgent outstanding debt (such as overdue rent, a car payment, or past due medical bills) who complete a thorough application with the help of a counselor or other qualified employee at a local pregnancy care center.
To qualify, applicants must:
be a resident of the state of Illinois;
be pregnant or have had a child in the last 12 months;
be doing all they can to solve the crisis or problem themselves;
have an urgent need and determine that Project Love is a last resort.
Only one grant is issued per pregnancy; checks will be mailed to the creditor and will not be written to the woman applying for the grant directly.
We require that all Project Love grant applications be submitted to us through a pregnancy care center. This requirement protects us and our generous supporters by allowing us to verify the identities and circumstances of applicants, and serves women in need by requiring that they engage with a pregnancy care center that has other tools and services to offer them.
If you would like to apply for a Project Love grant, reach out to your local pregnancy care center (which you can find here) and schedule an appointment. Pregnancy care center counselors can download the application here.
How can I apply?
Can I make a restricted gift to project love?
Due to legal and financial limitations, we do not restrict donations. We do, however, make every good faith attempt to honor our supporters’ preferences.
