Texas Democrats Join Planned Parenthood of Illinois in Chicago to Celebrate Abortion
Since 2021, Texas has protected the lives of preborn children beginning at the detection of a heartbeat—around six weeks gestation—through the Texas Heartbeat Law. This legislation has helped to dramatically reduce the number of abortions in the state and has reaffirmed Texas's commitment to valuing every human life, both born and preborn.
Illinois’ Permissive Abortion Laws Encourage Women to Travel for Abortions:
Illinois, however, stands in stark contrast. With some of the most permissive abortion laws in the country, Illinois has become a national destination for abortion. In fact, it commits the highest number of abortions on women who travel from out of state—many of whom come from states like Texas, where unborn children are protected. Almost 25% of all out of state abortion seekers travel to Illinois for their abortion.
Texas Democrats Thank Planned Parenthood of Illinois for Killing Preborn Texan Children:
In a joint press conference this week with Planned Parenthood of Illinois, Texas Democrats traveled to Chicago—not to advocate for women’s health or offer real support to mothers in crisis—but to celebrate Illinois’ abortion industry for killing Texas’ preborn children that their own constituents voted to protect. The group expressed their “gratitude” for Illinois' role in facilitating abortions for Texas women, openly applauding a system that ends the lives of thousands of preborn children.
Rather Than Focus on More Support, They Focus on More Abortion:
Rather than working to improve resources and support systems for Texas women facing unplanned pregnancies, these elected officials praised the fact that those same women are being sent across state lines for abortions. Instead of expanding compassion and care in their home state, they are applauding the expansion of abortion access elsewhere.
False Compassion Is Dangerous:
This event underscores a troubling reality: some political leaders are more committed to protecting the abortion industry than to protecting human life or offering true choices to women. What’s being framed as “compassion” is actually the celebration of loss—the loss of thousands of unique, unrepeatable human lives.
Illinois Right to Life remains committed to advocating for every human being, no matter their age, size, or state of residence. While Illinois continues to serve as an abortion hub, we will continue to speak truth, offer support, and stand for life in every circumstance.
