Project Love Summer Update: Lives in Crisis, Hope in Action
The past few weeks have been exceptionally busy for Project Love. This summer, many Illinois moms and families are confronting hardships that threaten their safety and shelter. Since our last update, we’ve received six new applications for emergency support.
A Courageous Choice Amid Crisis
One mother’s story stands out for its heartbreak—and heroism. Pregnant with her fifth child and already a new mother, she and her family faced eviction. They've been moving from shelter to shelter and were forced into unsafe situations—“I was scared for my life while pregnant,” she confided.
Despite working and keeping her job—even without paid leave—the financial stress was relentless. The family had reached a tipping point, living temporarily with her mother-in-law, but still at risk of another eviction over past-due rent.
Yet this mother chose life for her child and herself under unbearable pressure. That is sacrificial love. Sadly, her situation is all too common. Too many women enter abortion facilities not because they don't want their babies—but because they feel they have nowhere else to turn.
Project Love in Action
We’re honored to step into that gap. Through Project Love, we were able to pay one month’s rent for this family—giving them breathing space to care for their new baby with dignity and security.
Project Love is the emergency grant program of Illinois Right to Life, offering one-time financial assistance for rent, utilities, or other urgent needs. Grants—up to $1,000—go directly to creditors, never to recipients, and are awarded only after careful screening through pregnancy help centers—only when other solutions have been exhausted.
Since 1996, Project Love has awarded over half a million dollars in grants to support women in crisis pregnancy situations.
Why It Matters
This is the heartbeat of our mission: when women receive emotional, spiritual, and financial support, they are empowered to choose life.
Every success—or lifesaving moment—is made possible because of you. Your generosity sustains this mission. Your belief in the dignity of every life—no matter how small—makes miracles happen.
You Can Make a Difference
Will you prayerfully consider giving to Illinois Right to Life today, to help more women in crisis choose life and support other critical programs like Project Love?
Every gift helps ensure that mothers aren’t forced to choose death out of desperation—because we’re there with hope, help, and love.
How Project Love Works
A local pregnancy help center screens and counsels an applicant.
If she qualifies, the counselor submits the grant application to Illinois Right to Life.
Upon approval, funds are sent directly to landlords or official creditors.
This immediate relief gives the mother space to recover and bond safely with her newborn.
This summer, your support keeps Project Love strong—and stories like this mother’s possible. Thank you for standing firm in support of Life.
