Planned Parenthood's 2023–2024 Annual Report: A Force of False Hope
Last week, Planned Parenthood released their 2023-2024 annual report, which they ironically titled "A Force for Hope," highlights that the organization is an abortion goliath, putting the killing of preborn children above the health and well-being of women.
The abortion industry uses phrases like “ending a pregnancy,” “abortion is healthcare,” and “right to abortion” to obscure the reality of the violence of abortion. Labeling themselves “A Force for Hope” while profiting off the lives of innocent preborn children and capitalizing on the most vulnerable moments in a woman's life exposes the profound irony and deception in their rhetoric. Record High in Abortions & Taxpayer Funding:
The report discloses that Planned Parenthood performed 402,230 abortions, marking a nearly 10,000 increase from the previous year and the highest number in its history. This equates to approximately 1,103 abortions daily, 46 every hour, or 1 every 78 seconds.
That is the equivalent of killing 15 school bus loads of children EVERY DAY!
Surge in Taxpayer Funding
In the same period, Planned Parenthood received nearly $800 million in taxpayer dollars, a $100 million increase from the previous year. This funding now constitutes nearly 40% of its total revenue.
Decline in REAL Health Services
Following their decade long trend, abortions are up, actual health services are down:
Contraceptive services (includes counseling and care, down by 4% in a year; down 44% since 2009
Overall cancer screenings (breast exams and pap smears; slight overall decrease of 1%, pap smears down 13.5%)
Preventative care visits (down by 4%)
Adoption referrals (down by 5%, with 228 abortions for every one adoption referral)
Capitalizing on Dangerous Chemical Abortions
Chemical abortion pills are the number one killer of preborn children and the most dangerous form of direct abortion for women. According to the Ethics & Public Policy Center, 1 in 10 women have reported serious adverse events in the 45 days following their chemical abortion. Planned Parenthood did not want to miss out on the financial opportunity of expanding the selling of chemical abortion drugs. The organization is now prescribing these deadly pills at 45 locations.
Impact on Illinois
In Illinois, Planned Parenthood's influence has contributed to the passage of extreme abortion laws like Reproductive Health Act which allows abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. Planned Parenthood has utilized Illinois’ extreme laws to increase their profits. They have used deception to buy up property on our state’s borders to open mega abortion facilities to increase abortion tourism from prolife states.
