Statement of IRLC Policy

Illinois Right to Life Committee (IRLC) opposes any stem cell research that involves use of embryonic stem cells or human cloning.  Such research requires the killing of human embryos.

IRLC strongly supports ethical stem cell research.  Stem cells that do not raise any ethical questions are available from adults and children, umbilical cord blood, and even placentas.  Various cells of adults and children can be used to obtain stem cells.  New sources and capabilities of adult stem cells are being discovered on an ongoing basis.
