The Morning-After Pill Deception

Promoters of the so-called “morning-after pill”, also called emergency contraception, claim that its use will prevent “millions of unintended pregnancies” and reduce the need for abortion.

To accept these claims, it is necessary to ignore a number of scientific facts. Medical texts recognize that human life begins at conception. Dr. Jeffrey Waldman, medical director for Planned Parenthood, indicated that this drug prevents the embryo from implanting in the womb. This statement confirms that the morning-after pill performs an early abortion.

The Center for Reproductive Rights and Women’s Capital Corp, maker of Plan B, have petitioned the FDA to allow over-the-counter sales of this drug. Plan B clinical studies show a maximum of 89% effectiveness in “preventing” pregnancy (killing the embryo).

Since hormones present in oral contraceptives are used in much higher dosage in the morning-after pill, the serious side effects associated with contraceptives can be expected here as well.

The FDA should not approve a drug for over-the-counter sales that causes abortions, creates health risks for women, and is not even reliable.
