President's Report
30 Years After Roe v. Wade

Thirty years of killing, 42 million innocent babies lost and the enemies of life consider it a cause for celebration. Like a dance of death, they swagger about the great improvement in their lives because of “choice,” they round up their politician puppets and issue orders against any restrictions on abortion or any judge that respects life. Most of all, like prophets of doom they predict dire scenarios about overturning Roe and how women will once again be second class citizens.

I suppose you didn’t know that killing your children makes you first class – but first class what? A liar, a betrayer, a deceiver, a killer? Those are the shills for the abortion industry, ever ready to promote and justify abortion. Kate Michelman described the Roe decision as a “benediction,” blessing and justifying her abortion, silencing her morals and her values, erasing her guilt.

Mary Cunningham Agee of the Nurturing Network describes the grief of post-abortion women as “always tinged with the unmistakable sadness born of the realization that they have been betrayed, by the boyfriend, the parent, the friend or the employer who sees their unborn child as an inconvenience or a threat to their relationship.” Dr. David Reardon of The Elliot Institute publishes study after study showing the psychological, physical, and spiritual suffering of women after abortion. Little attention has been paid to the devastating physical consequences for women – ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, premature births and infertility.

There’s a new voice in the debate called “Silent No More.” Over 800 women who have had abortions have spoken out about their regret. Georgette Forney of the National Organization of Episcopalians for Life says: “There’s a lot of talk about rights and choice but very little attention is given to women who have had abortions. I regret my abortion and I know others feel the same way.”

Frederica Matthews-Green of Feminists for Life likens the “choice” to an animal caught in a trap that gnaws off its leg to escape. It’s not what women want, they believe it’s their only option.

But things are changing. Recent polls show a growing change in public opinion. 68% of Americans favor protection for the unborn and Supreme Court justices who will uphold laws protecting unborn children. It’s no time to lose heart or throw in the towel!

Furthermore, there is a note of despair and hysteria in the pro-abortion camp. “This legislation is one of the most dangerous and burdensome of all of the many anti-abortion and anti-contraception bills being promoted by extremist opponents of women’s reproductive health,” said the National Organization of Women.

What were they talking about? The Abortion Non-Discrimination Act (ANDA) which is intended to protect Americans’ right not to have to pay for or otherwise participate in abortions. Specifically, it seeks to protect religious hospitals and other health care providers (clinics, insurers, nurses, doctors) who are opposed in conscience to having anything to do with abortion. Isn’t that what “choice” is about? Apparently, only some choices are allowed.

Watch the battles in the legislatures and in Congress, the bills for funding, the candidates for election, the education establishment, discussions of sex education and abstinence education, population control, scientific research, stem cells, cloning, medical care, employees insurance, Senate approval for administration appointees or judges, or military funding. It’s all about abortion because everything is about human life and what value we will give this wonderful gift from God.
